Forecasting water levels during spring flood – Nenets Autonomous Okrug
Task description
Development of advanced management decisions to prevent the negative consequences of floods. The service allows you to:
  1. Collect and analyze historical data necessary to predict water levels in the reservoirs of the region during the spring flood.
  2. Ensure the ability to forecast the water level in the reservoirs of the region during the spring flood, flooding of territories in order to make decisions necessary to ensure the safety of life and health of the population, as well as territories from flooding.
Problems
The main difficulties in solving the problem of forecasting the passage of flood are associated with the complexity of collecting initial data, their insufficient availability, insufficient knowledge of the mechanisms that determine the dynamics of changes in water levels in different parts of the region, as well as a number of other reasons.

Due to the fact that the authority to ensure safety during the flood was transferred from the federal level not so long ago, retrospective data can be found in the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, Roshydromet and other sources.
Effects
As a result of the solution development:
  1. An informative geosystem model of the territory was compiled (based on remote sensing data, climate and weather data, information about solar activity and permafrost, etc.).
  2. A neural network model was developed for analyzing data on the geosystem model of the territory.
  3. A geoportal system for visualizing the results of machine analysis has been implemented to provide information support for making informed management decisions in the field of organizing sustainable development of territories and predicting natural processes.

The service allows you to:
  1. Collect and process historical and current meteorological data: river water levels, precipitation, temperature, ice cover thickness, and other necessary data.
  2. Predict water levels during the spring flood.
  3. Create the possibility of forecasting the water level in the reservoirs of the region during the spring flood, flooding of territories in order to make decisions necessary to ensure the safety of life and health of the population, thereby preventing negative consequences.
